This is my volcano description

“NO NO NO, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING !”, I say, but sadly it was. The time that everyone had been dreading ...the volcano had erupted. Magma came streaming down making a hissing sound like a snake killing everyone in its path. The earth shakes like a giant’s belly rumbling of hunger. I can hear lightning violently striking in the distance. The lightning looks like the veins of someone's hand. As the weather changes, the sky has a gradient effect from a purple to lilac to ash coloured dark violet. The bold black mountain blends in with the beautiful scenery in the background. As the white smoke roams around the sky, it looks like a fierce dragon ready to quickly attack. I can feel the heat of the magma against my skin. I can smell smoke and ashes all around me. Glistening stars shine in the background, bright but unnoticed. bushy trees are swaying gently in the light breeze. The heat of the boiling magma made me feel like I was in a witch’s cauldron.

There I was standing bang in the middle of a volcanic eruption. I was doomed…...

Wind chimes

This is my race photo description

As the afternoon carries on so does the massive race. Flocks of people stand on the sidelines cheering like crazy.there is tons of commotion about who is going to win. Anxiously watching the crowd applauds and screams from time to time. Swaying from side to side are skinny burgundy and green coloured trees. As fast as a cheetah a boy with light brown hair takes the lead with his opponent closely behind. Their feet are pushing through the mud like they are wading through water. Competitors feet are getting stuck in the squelchy, splotchy mud. The mud looks like a desert because as they step their feet leave footprints in the ground. The atmosphere is very gloomy and clouds overcast the sky. It looks like it is going to rain any minute. Standing in the distance is a public toilet. It is a lime green colour and it looks very shaggy and ancient. The roof has ripples at the bottom and it is the colour of spinach.

Overall everyone had lots of fun and the runners put all their effort into the race. All the participants kept on persevering even though the weather was miserable

this is my SSW writing on the lost city of Atlantis

                   Atlantis the lost city

All was fine. The city lights shone in all directions and reflected on the crystal clear water in the harbour. There were buildings of all sorts, short one’s long ones and even ones with big pillars on the top.

This was the city known as Springfield. Everyone in Springfield knew about Atlantis the lost city but they all thought it was just a myth. Except from one small boy called Arlo ( who everyone thought was bonkers even his parents !!) he thought that one day Springfield would be uprooted and the lost city of Atlantis would appear.

It was a bright summer day in Springfield as usual and the sun was blazing hot.people were playing and talking when all of a sudden everything uprooted and after a few minutes Springfield turned into Atlantis luckily no one got hurt. Only then did the people realise that Arlo wasn’t just a boy that everyone thought was bonkers he was a GOD and a MIND READER !!!! somehow Arlo didn’t know this himself until now.

People loved Atlantis and the sea creatures became best friends with them; the children even went fishing school.

People lived in underwater apartments and skyscrapers too!!! After a few months, people started making it into a city with roads being built all over the place and improving houses. The town was busy all morning and night every day of the week 24/7. An inventor called Nicholas even created an underwater car.

Life was fine for a few months then one-night tragedy struck……

The seafloor rumbled like a gigantic earthquake and people screamed like crazy. After a few minutes, people saw a shadow of a ginormous underwater troll. His body was an ugly green colour and he had big beady eyes people tried to hide but it was no use he could see the smallest things from a mile away. Arlo saw people being squashed under the trolls feet but Arlo could tell he had no intention of doing any harm.

After a few hours all the citizens of Atlantis were never to be seen again, and the troll he lived happily for the rest of his days...

this is my explanation on how banks work

 How do banks work?

Have you ever wondered what a bank is? well, it

is a place that keeps your money safe.  It is also a place where you can lend and take money. People can take your money from the bank but they have to pay it back to the bank and the bank will pay it back to you. This is called interest. So how exactly does a bank work?  Well, you’re about to find out!

Paragraph 1 ( keeping your money safe)

When you open a bank account you deposit some money to the bank, this is because they can keep your money safe and give it to you later for future investments.thousands of people deposit their money to the bank and trust that the bank will keep it safe. banks keep your money in a special tightly secured place called a vault. A volt is a place that the bank keeps everyone's money they keep your money here to prevent it from being stolen so there is no need to worry about your money being robbed.

Paragraph 2 (trading/interest)

People can borrow money from you and you can borrow money from other people as well. If someone borrows money from you they have to pay it back after a year. Say for example  I receive  $600 from a festival and deposit it to my bank account. I will get 2% interest but every year I will also get 2 dollars. That way I am making money just by depositing money to the bank!

Paragraph 3 (savings)

After you open a bank account you will have a savings account. A savings account allows you to keep your money safe and it earns a small amount of interest each month. Banks usually offer two types of savings accounts they are a basic savings account and a money market savings account. A basic savings account will usually have either no minimum balance requirement or a low one but will offer a very low-interest rate this means that your money won’t earn that much. A money market savings account usually pays more money interest but that requires you to have more money in your account.

Conclusion

Overall banks work with tens of billions of dollars. You can find them in pretty much any place in the world. They are great because you can store money in them and take money out when You need to. I hope you have learnt a bit more about banks from this explanation.

I have made this flower using trapeziums, hexagons, diamonds and triangles

I have made a  flower using trapezium diamonds, hexagons, and triangles. I have used 6/42 triangles. I know that because if you look at the shape carefully, you will see that there are 42 triangles in this shape and 6 of them are proper triangles. In this flower, there are 7 hexagons but only 1 proper hexagon. There are 14 trapeziums in this shape but only 6 proper ones. Lastly, there are 21 diamonds but only 6 proper ones.

this is my turtle made of trapeziums, triangles, hexagons and diamonds

I have made a turtle with different types of shapes. In this turtle, I  used a variety of shapes including diamonds, hexagons, triangles, and trapeziums. There are  26 diamonds but only 5 proper ones.there are also  52 triangles but only 10 that are visible straight away. There are actually 8 hexagons in this shape but only 1 is an actual hexagon. My final shape was a trapezium and I had 17 in my turtle but only 5 proper ones.

This is my inquiry about the history of money

The History of Money

Complete the timeline below describing the early history of money

9000 BC  in the first form of money was animals like cattle, sheep and camels.

1200 BC   Around the Pacific and Indian Oceans in China and parts of Africa, cowrie shells were used from 1200 BC.

1000 BC  the Chinese were the first to use metal in their money.

500 BC  in Lydia which is now part of the turkey , coins were made with a mixture of gold and silver they were stamped at the back to show they were not fake

806 AD china started making paper money as there  was a shortage of gold and copper`

This is My definition of Bartering

 Bartering

Bartering is a form of trade. In the olden days, they didn’t have money so they use to barter.  In order for bartering to work, two people have to agree on the things1 they're trading with.  Say for example Mary is a  farmer that produces milk and Damian is a mechanic. If Mary wants her bike fixed  Damian has said that she has to give him  1 litre of milk in exchange. Sometimes there is something called the double coincidence of wants. Say mary has a friend called jack and he owns an orchard Damian says he wants some fruits in exchange from mary that means mary would have to trade with jack for the fruits then gives the fruits to  Damian.

The day I swapped my brother ! !

Stop-it you egghead can’t you see I'm in the middle of doing something, OUT NOW,”  I screamed furiously. I felt like I was about to explode.

“CAN YOU GUYS JUST STOP FIGHTING !!!! “yelled my mum at the top of her lungs
This is an ordinary day at my house basically getting yelled at 24/7. I have a big family. I'm a triplet. My name is Maddison and the others are  Bradley and Chad (were known as Brad, Chad and Mad). Me and Brad don’t get along well at all, Chad is just a total bookworm and I mean it he even reads in the bathroom!!!

My friend Emily had come over and she had brought her 2 fluffy white bunnies. Then I pondered to myself what if I traded brad to Emily to give me the bunnies. Since Emily was an only child she really wanted a sibling I was just dreaming about all the things I could do without Brad. Life would be remarkable. I asked Emily and she gladly accepted the offer. Mum had bought brad these new comics and he was so engrossed in them that I knew he wouldn’t suspect a thing. I said bye to Emily and she dragged Brad across the floor and out of the house like he was a suitcase. A few hours later mum and  Dad came home to find me and chad quietly doing our own things and they knew there was something fishy about then they realised that brad was missing (though it took them quite a while to figure that out).”Chad what did you do to your brother my mum said still in a state of shock”  “I didn’t do anything to him mum” my brother said innocently.

To be continued ……………..

why deforestation is a terrible issue (speech)

SPEECH
 Introduction
Have you ever wondered what happens outside of the places we live, What happens to the animals that live in rainforests or in the wilderness? I do,  today I'm going to tell you about how deforestation is making animals die. Major causes of deforestation are, people destroying animals' homes, agriculture expansion and logging.
(2)
The First main reason for deforestation is agriculture expansions.  Because of the increase in global demand for certain products like palm oil and soybeans producers have to clear forests at an alarming rate. In the past 40 years, at least 20% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed. 3.5-7 billion trees are cut down each year for Agriculture, imagine you’re seeing millions of football fields that are filled with trees that's probably how many trees that are cut down. If all the trees in the world were cut down it would affect us because trees give us oxygen and without oxygen, we won't be able to survive. The human race could die out and of course, we don't want that to happen. Just think about what would happen to YOU if all the trees were cut down

(3)
Another cause for deforestation is that it destroys animals' homes. Some animals that have lost their homes already are some tropical birds are toucans and the harpy eagle. Mammals like gorillas, jaguars and pumas. The golden frog, the Madagascar day gecko and iguanas, as well as several species of poison dart frogs. Some extinct animals or animals that are now in captivity are the Formosan Clouded Leopard, Spix’s Macaw, Mount Glorious Torrent Frog, and the Cryptic Treehunter. Things we can do to save animals are: we can save endangered species by breeding more of them and saving their environment; caring for animals and curing them and taking care of animals who can no longer live in the wild and breed more of those animals. Think about all those poor animals whose lives are in grave danger. Imagine you were an animal who was experiencing this and people were taking your home away from you how would you feel?  terrible right no one would want that to happen so I firmly believe this shouldn’t happen to animals.

(p4)
Logging
In order to build homes, produce paper and build cities a large portion of our forest is cut down. As the global population increases more houses are being built which means more trees are cut down this will go on and on so there will be fewer trees left. Illegal logging occurs in all types of forests across all continents from Brazil to Indonesia  Illegally harvested wood is used in major consumption markets, such as the U.S., and European Union. Just think about it if every country had a million boxes of paper and for each box of paper one tree would have to be cut down that would be around 195 million trees !!! Isn’t that just sad?

Conclusion
‘Forests are the worlds air conditioning system -the lungs of our planet-and were on the verge of switching it off’ is a quote that was once said by Prince Charles and I  definitely agree at the current rate we are really close to having no forests. SO TAKE ACTION NOW AND SAVE OUR PLANET !!!!!!!

here is my recount writing

When   wherewhointeresting sentence startersseesmellhearfeel actionsinteresting words

When I got hurt in mount Ruapehu
Grrrr are we there yet]

When I was 8 years old we were in the car with me, my mum, friends and their mum because we were going to Mount Ruapehu the car ride was extremely boring.

Finally, after 4 ½ hours later we arrived at our destination. It was a mesmerising view with  blue icy mountains and bright white peaks. There Were tons of people and birds everywhere. Birds were squawking and chirping along with people laughing and talking to each other. The snow felt soft and mushy like cotton that had been in the freezer. I could smell the cold ice which made my nose feel frosty. We were running around like crazy as we were so excited to see snow for the first time.

After a while, we decided to go sledging the first few rounds were successful, But on the next round, my sledge turned the wrong way and was headed straight for a metal pole. Then my foot banged into the metal pole and it pained immensely. I took my shoe off and found out that my foot was swollen. I could hardly even walk on my left foot.

After about an hour later the pain was gone which was a huge relief because then I could go back to play with my friends.

Overall it was a great experience going to Mount Ruapehu and I was proud of myself for attempting to go skiing. I had a remarkable time!

This is my how does it work explanation on lego

Lego bricks
Lego bricks first started in 1932, when danish genius Ole Kirk Christiansen came up with interlocking pieces. They have continued to be manufactured the same way today.
All varieties of lego are made of plastic and have a small circle like groves on the top and bottom so that they interlock with each other. Many people make houses, buildings animals and many more things with them. Lego isn’t like traditional building blocks they stay together whereas building just falls apart if you trip over them. Building blocks also topple over very easily whereas because lego pieces interlock with each other they are hard to break apart.
You can make thousands of things using lego from skyscrapers and buildings to people and cars and you never get bored of them!!

here is my coordinates puzzle use the black grid at the top to find the letters( eg E6 is A E 9 is T) find the answers and crack the code

Today, your task is to practice reading coordinates.

What are coordinates and where do you find them?

Here is another example of coordinates. This time, the letters and numbers are on the lines instead of between them. For example, the letter T is at E9.
This is your Code Breaker. You will need to read the coordinates in the code to work out the secret message.

Task 1: Here is your code. Use the Code Breaker to work out the message.
The answer is: Meet Me After school at the gate
task 2: Use the same Code Breaker to write 2 new coded messages. Each message should be between 6 - 10 words long. Write your code like in Task 1 (one word per line), then write the answer.
Coded Message #1: E9, G8,E6,H6,N0    N8,G11,J8   E9,G11  E9,G8,D10    L11,G11,B11,G3,M4,D10,A2,L11  E9,G8,E6,E9   M10,G11,J8,C4,G8,E9   G11,H6  E6,H6,N2,E6,L7 G3,E6,N8

The answer is:Thank you to the soldiers that fought on Anzac day
Coded Message i10,J8,N8   K2,G11,K2,K2,M4,D10,L11  E9,G11
A2,E6,M4,L11,D10  A8,G11,H6,D10,N8   M10,G11,A2   E9,G8,D10
L11,G11,B11,G3,M4,D10,A2,L11

The answer is: buy poppies to raise money for the soldiers
Share your work with your teacher when you are finished.
If you want to post this to your blog after it has been checked, you will need to copy and paste the Code Breaker as well.
